Coral Windows is a local retailer of windows, doors and conservatories. They called on our 3D expertise to craft an annual 3D-animated Christmas TV advert that would create that warm and fuzzy feeling for adults and children alike. Coral wanted their audience to associate their windows, doors and conservatories with warmth and safety, making it the perfect recipe for Christmas time airing.
For this project, Coral needed something that would boost their brand recall, without necessarily pushing any sales messages. They were in need of a high-quality advert to immediately position Coral as a memorable name that creates emotional impact for its audience. This was even more important to achieve at Christmas – a time when many brands are competing to create the most-talked about TV advert.
In the creative stage, we decided to keep the dialogue in the advert to the absolute minimum to keep focus on the 3D animation and create a bigger emotional impact. The main focus of the audio was music with lyrics, which included the brand name ‘Coral’. So, our challenge after making this decision was to convey the narrative of the advert without dialogue. This required careful thinking about character’s actions, expressions and movements.
Intertwined with this challenge was also creating a memorable story that would raise the profile of the Coral Windows brand. We had to be original, while also appealing to universal values of family and safety.
We produced an emotional 1-minute advert telling the story of a family dog yearning for its owner, the daughter of the family, to come home.
Our team worked hard on Coral Windows’ 3D animation to inject as much quality and detail as possible so the narrative shone through without the need for dialogue. To create a truly cosy atmosphere, we built a warm and inviting family home setting at Christmas time, surrounded by falling snow outside. The home setting had subtle nods to Coral’s products: windows, doors and conservatories.
Combined with the branded soundtrack, this advert was unmistakably Coral.
This advert provided Coral with a unique edge over their competitors, boasting detailed 3D animation and a big emotional impact. They have now used the advert to carve themselves a recognisable brand identity.
