The online landscape is ever-changing. New devices, platforms and features are introduced on what feels like a daily basis.

Never fear. We’ve put together a roundup of five of this month’s biggest stories to help you stay ahead of the curve!

Facebook expands Messenger ads to all advertisers globally

After successful beta testing, Facebook has begun to expand Messenger ads to all advertisers around the globe. These ads will be available to purchase through Ads Manager and will appear in the Home tab of the Messenger app. TechCrunch reports that the ads’ placements will depend upon “how many threads a user has, the size of their phone’s physical screen and the pixel density of the display.”

Facebook introduces new Live 360 features

The social giant has also launched a series of updates that will “improve and simplify the Live 360 experience for both creators and audiences”. These include: a new Live 360 Ready Program that offers “an array of third-party 360 cameras and software solutions”, 4K resolution support for all Live 360 streams, and a selection of scheduling and distribution tools for creators.

LinkedIn tests new video features

LinkedIn is testing a new feature that will enable users to natively upload auto-playing videos. As well as providing typical statistics on these videos such as views, likes, and shares, LinkedIn will also provide basic employment information about viewers.

Snapchat unveils new features and creative tools

In order to keep up with Instagram Stories, Snapchat now allows users to attach website URLs to their Snaps. Other new features include the Multi-Snap tool, which enables users to record up to six 10-second clips at a time, a colour-changing Tint Brush, voice filters and custom backgrounds.

Instagram Stories adds video and photo replies

Instagram Stories is continuing its bid to become the ultimate visual communication tool by mirroring yet another feature of its competitor Snapchat. Users now have the option to reply to their friends’ posts with videos and photos, rather than just text.
